How to Find Machinist Jobs Online

1 year ago by bwadmin

a person welding metalIf you’re a machinist, you know that it’s not an exciting process to look for a new position. Don’t worry, there are ways you can make things easier on yourself.

Here are some ways you can maximize your chances at success when searching for a new machinist position:

Get Qualified

If you’re just getting into the machine operating industry, there are a few things you’ll have to take care of to begin your job search. First, you’ll have to find an apprenticeship program where you’ll learn the ins and outs as an apprentice. Learning technical skills, the basics of machining, CAD, the manufacturing process, and welding processes are all courses you should expect to take.

After your apprenticeship, you’ll want to get certified. There are many different certifications that you can acquire, but they are mostly based on what type of machinery you specialize in. The most important certification you’ll want is the NIMS or National Institute of Metalworking Skills.

Getting these qualifications will make finding a quality machining job much easier.

Develop a Strategy

Once you’ve got all the education and certifications out of the way, you can now think about what your plan of action will be. You’ll want to start by prioritizing your options. You can ask yourself questions such as:

  • What industry do I want to work in?
  • What is important to me about the job itself?
  • What benefits am I looking for?
  • Is this job right for me?

Answering these questions will give you a better idea of what you want to look for in your search. Developing a game plan before you start will allow you to weed out any unfavorable positions, providing you with a clear road map of where you want to end up.

Start Your Search

There are many ways you can start your search. You can hop on Google and do a quick search for jobs in your area or utilize a job search website. But most of these options are much too broad to find the job you’re looking for.

For a more specialized approach, you can reach out to a recruiter like Strom Engineering. If you want to make things easier on yourself, reaching out to a recruiter is probably the best route. A recruiter will lay out your options based on what you want with your job. They’ll then connect you with a company that correlates with your wants and needs, creating a smooth and easy job searching process.

How to Find Good Manufacturing Jobs Online

1 year ago by bwadmin

a person typing on a computer next to a workbenchIn today’s job market, manufacturing jobs are everywhere. But how do you find that one that’s the right fit for you? We’ll talk about a few ways you can set yourself up to finding that perfect job online.

Start with a Strategy

To find the right job, it helps to know exactly what you want first. Outline your career goals both immediate and long-term. Include some companies that you know, would possibly like to work for, people you’d like to work with, and what you’d like to learn.

Begin Searching

Once your strategy is set and clear, you can start your search online. Places like Indeed, LinkedIn, and Facebook Jobs are good places to start. But you may notice that it’s hard to find just manufacturing jobs on these tools.

It’s much easier to use services that specialized in manufacturing jobs, like Strom Engineering.

Use what you already know, such as your career goals and experience to narrow your search for potential job openings.

Use A Job Recruiter

One of the best ways to find good manufacturing jobs online is to work with an experienced manufacturing recruiter. A recruiter has a network of manufacturing businesses so they can easily match your skills to the right business.

Recruiters already know the ins and outs of the job market, have connections within the industry, and work to match you to employers for a living. They’ll take your knowledge and skills and personalize your search so that you can have the best chance at getting the best job for you.

Whether you’re a seasoned vet or just getting into the industry, you’ll benefit from using a job recruiter to help you find a good job to pay your bills.

How to Write a Resume for Temp Jobs

2 years ago by bwadmin

a person typing on a computerWhen applying for short-term jobs, you’ll still be asked to submit a resume. Our job applicants often have similar questions:

  • What if I don’t have a lot of work experience?
  • Do I need to list every job I’ve had?
  • What if English is my second language?
  • Do I have to write a different resume for each job I apply for?

The resume writing process can be confusing. So today, we’ll give you some practical tips when writing a resume for temp jobs.

1. Use a Resume Template

Your resume does two things: it gives a snapshot of your experience and shows that you read directions. Beyond that, it doesn’t have to be much more complicated.

We recommend using a pre-made resume template or online builder to get started. These tools let you fill in all you information and automatically format it so your resume looks professional and tidy. This is a great option no matter your English proficiency or writing skills, since you don’t have to worry about writing clever descriptions.

Resume builder is a great, free tool we recommend, but you can find many more just by searching for “resume builder” online.

2. Make Sure Your Contact Info is Front and Center

Your name and contact information should be the very first thing on your resume, centered at the top of the page. If you use a resume builder, most will do this for you. Otherwise, make sure you’re including this vital information.

Including both a phone number and an email gives you the best chance at hearing back.

3. Include Relevant Employment History and Education

This is the meat and potatoes of your resume, so you want to make sure you’re not missing anything. Include your employment history going back at least five years.

Keep in mind while writing that you want your resume to usually only be 1-2 pages long total.

If you don’t have that much job history or if this is your first position, leave your employment history blank. You can instead focus on any volunteer or domestic work you may have done, as well as your educational history. Most temp jobs don’t require a college degree, but you should list any education received and what year you graduated, such as high school or GED.

If you have a lot of employment history, it might be beneficial to only list the most relevant jobs to your current job. If you’re applying for temp work, list anything that involves clerical skills, manufacturing, assembly, etc.

You can update your resume for each job you’re applying to, but if you’re applying in-bulk to temp jobs this can take a lot of time. Instead, you might want to create a resume that covers the basics so you can use the same one for multiple jobs.

Writing a resume can be difficult, but following these tips will help make it easier. Strom Engineering takes the hard work out of finding jobs. Just upload your resume to our online portal, and we’ll match you to open jobs.
